VIEWER FEEDBACK & REVIEWSWe know that you want to know what you're getting before you layout a few bucks for our DVD. So here are a few of the many emails and reviews we have received over the past few months about "Winter Magic".---- Received my copy of your DVD "Winter Magic" yesterday. Couldn't stop watching it! Great footage and good comments during the hunts. Thank you for the quick handling/shipping of my order! No coyotes here. A lot of foxes though, they are in for a surprise... Milos M., Sweden ---- The video arrived yesterday, thank you very much. I watched it last night, nothing by compliments and praise. Great job! Now if you could send a little of that snow down to Nebraska.... good hunting, looking forward to video #2... after I watch the first one a couple dozen times! G.C., Nebraska ---- I finished watching your DVD "Winter Magic" and I must say, I was very impressed. Foxes were the very first thing I ever hunted, so that really brought back fond memories. There sure aren't many video's out there that show snow hunting and I congratulate you on being one of the first... Jim, S.E. US ---- REVIEW I just finished watching the DVD "Winter Magic." Although no one asked me to review it, I just felt that writing my opinions might provide a service for those who might be considering ordering the video. First off, let me say that I'm biased. This is the first predator hunting DVD that provides lots of footage of red fox hunting. That's my passion so of course I liked that part. But, on with the rest of the review. Having made a video for the commercial market, let me say that I realize the difficulties that go into it. With that in mind, I'd like to sum up my review by saying this is, by far, the best video I've ever seen on predator hunting. The camera work and editing were professional in the first degree. There isn't another video on the market that compares. Some are mighty entertaining and even educational but this one has that plus excellent quality. The scenes were a great mix of showing and mixing the hunters, what they are doing on stand, the predator and how he's reacting to what the hunters are doing. Of course without having a battery of cameras on each stand (which they didn't) a lot of the scenes were set up after the hunt. (that's typically the way things are done on videos and hunting shows) But, this was done in such a way that you never once thought to yourself 'boy, that was poor editing.' In fact, it was done so well that you honestly thought there were fifteen camera on each stand filming from each angle in real time! In short, the technical work on this video was excellent. It sets the standard that all other video makers should strive to achieve. The content of the video was excellent as well. The calling scenes depicted a variety of body language and the narration explained in detail what you were seeing happen. The narration was also full of tips and facts. There are also a lot of stalking scenes. For those in the northland, this is a common way to hunt fox and coyotes. For those who have never seen it, it's a treat to have it filmed so well. The tips and techniques section at the end of the video was all sound advice. No funky opinions just good, basic solid facts that all hunters should practice in order to become better hunters. For those living in the south, you should get this video just in order to see how we northern boys have to hunt. It's an excellent representation and a pleasant change from all the Texas scenery we see in videos. On a personal note, I enjoyed this video because the eastern section is exactly the situations and terrain I face when hunting at home in Minnesota. And, the western portion is exactly like the land I hunt in North Dakota. I love it! Well, that's my 2 cents. I love this video and will be sure to show it to all my friends who are too cheap to pop for one themselves. I encourage everyone to buy a copy. I promise you'll enjoy it! Randy Buker, MN Hunting the Night Shift predator hunting video ---- Received the Winter Magic DVD Tuesday and got a chance to watch it last night. It is well done... I have been hunting coyotes for 35 years and using hand calls for almost 30 years and to put a DVD together as well as you did is a feat in itself... If you decide to do a "Winter Magic II" I would most definitely purchase it. W.S., Alberta ---- I received your DVD on Thursday last and have just finished watching it. I would like to say that it's one of the best hunting DVD's that I have watched. One thing in particular I enjoyed was the narration. It was just about right, not too much. Many of the DVD's that I have viewed have too much "in your face" narration and the hunters discussing (too much) their kills etc. I also liked the fact that the DVD featured a lot of fox shooting. Here in Wales, we only have the red fox to hunt, which I particulary like to hunt. I have many DVD's of different hunting, but Coyote/Fox is my favourite. If you have any other DVD's that you have for sale, I would be grateful if you could let me know... Once again, thanks for a great DVD, very informative and plenty of good shots taken. I will pass this information on to my friends and hopefully they will purchase it as well (they are not borrowing mine!) S.B., Wales UK ---- Hi John, I recieved the DVD yesterday and watched it last night, you guys did a great job making that video. I have hunted coyotes in Saskatchewan in the winter and know first hand how cold you guys were in some of those scenes. D.B., Alberta ---- REVIEW Featuring hunts of red fox and coyote, Winter Magic is a quality video predator hunting enthusiasts will find exciting and educational. John brings close to ten years of experience hosting televised outdoor shows in his production of Winter Magic. With that knowledge, Winter Magic raises the bar for predator hunting videos. Excellent camera work is coupled with background music that is well utilized and meshes perfectly with the action on screen. Each scene includes a narration covering what, why, and how things are being done for each hunt. Another nice feature is a slow motion replay of the killing shot at the end of each scene. It looks like John has a pretty good idea of how to put together a hunting video. One thing that I find particularly appealing is that each sequence is indexed to its own chapter on the DVD. This makes navigating to individual scenes very simple. I’d like to see other video producers follow this format. Red fox fans are in for a treat: With more than half of the hunts being red fox hunts showing calling, stalking, and the ambushing of singles, doubles, and even triples, Winter Magic is sure to delight red fox hunters. Winter Magic also contains a section of useful and informative tips. Here John shares what he has learned from his pursuits of predators. For example, when faced with two foxes, which one do you shoot first to ensure the second sticks around long enough to get a shot on?. There is also information on coyote behavior that can help you put more fur on the ground. With 22 hunts in all, John conjures up a heavy dose of Winter Magic. And an addictive dose it is. But do yourself a favor: Before starting the video be sure to pour up a cup of hot chocolate. With fields covered in white and snow popping and crunching under foot, the sharp chill of winter is brought into your living room. You might even find yourself turning the thermostat up a few degrees. B.G., PredatorMasters ---- Just finished watching your video, and felt the need to respond to your offer, of giving some "feedback" on your video. The camera work was very good. No "bouncing around" or wasted shots. Excellent. The shots of you guys sneaking up on the "sleepers" was great also. That's something that you don't see in many of the coyote videos out there. The "Tips & Techniques" section was done very nicely. Especially that you didn't go into a long demonstration on how to blow a call. We saw plenty of that already, in the video. Nice job. You also covered other ways of looking at, and approaching the sport of hunting predators... That's something not ever mentioned in other videos. Nice job. Well that's about it. Overall I enjoyed the video. Just thought that I would share my feelings with you. Take it for what you will. I am NOT a professional videographer. I DO know what it takes to get those shots on film though, and I congratulate you! G.S., Michigan ---- Just watched the Winter Magic video. Have to say, having watched a dozen or more of these coyote hunting DVD’s, John and Pat’s was excellent. Of course it helps coming from Canada, and knowing the people on the DVD. I thoughly enjoyed. It wasn’t the usual product placement pap we are used to seeing. It was obvious that these guys enjoyed hunting and wanted to share their experiences. I can highly recommend it. R.P., Alberta ---- I received a surprise in my mailbox today, just what I needed for a rainy fall afternoon. This is the predator calling/stalking video I have been waiting for. I think hunting them in the snow is the most exciting time of all, and you both did a first rate job of presenting it. I've never seen real experts stalk and shoot until now, and I really liked all the fox footage, as we have very few fox in Iowa, so that was a real treat, almost like being behind the gun. I hope you will come out with your next DVD as soon as you can make it happen. Good luck and good hunting. B.W., Iowa ---- I purchased your DVD Winter Magic From "All Predator Calls" and I just had to e-mail you to say you deserve a "Photographic Award of Excellence". I have never seen (and I have a half dozen DVD predator discs) a more perfect photographic disc than this one, clear smooth scanning, top rate workmanship from start to finish. Oh yes, so was your hunting. Thanks Again make another one soon. J.R. ---- I know Pat Cameron some, and John Summerfield a little, and these guys are sure serious about their/our addiction. I've read a couple articles that Pat wrote for TVHM, and they were some of the better stuff I've seen in that magazine. Their use of custom accuracy rigs for their shooting is unsurpassed in the industry, IMO. I loved watching Pat shoot those predators with his super-duper .17 Javelina, after a nice stalk. I would've liked to have seen a little more technical stuff on their guns/loads/ballistics since i know that's Pat's passion, but in all with my limited experience with videos it's the best i've seen also. S.H., CO ---- Hello again. I got the movie yesterday! It is fantastic... please mail me when your next movie is ready. M.L., Sweden ---- |
